Project Requirements

This project called for the transplanting of 2 specimen Oaks: a Red Oak with a 27" trunk diameter and a Live Oak with a 25" trunk diameter. Each tree weighed approximately 175,000 pounds.

Project Process

In the month preceding the move, the Houston area received over 12 inches of rain making heavy equipment access difficult.

Project Solution

Environmental Design installed over 20,000 sq ft of protective matting to mitigate the wet conditions, and successfully moved the trees to their new locations without interrupting the construction schedule.
