Project Requirements

Carmel Development Corporation (Clint Eastwood and partners) mapped out a plan to develop a golf course and residential properties in an ecological sensitive region of California. To gain approval of the project, Carmel Development demonstrated a commitment to preserving the native forest by agreeing to transplant all native trees that would be affected by construction.

Project Process

Environmental Design was called in to move the native Coast Live Oaks from fairways, roadways, clubhouse area, ... Over the life of the project, Environmental Design has transplanted thousands of trees, maintaining the natural forest.

Living History

To insure the use of native plant material in all landscaping work on the project, Environmental Design was asked to build a boxed tree nursery grown from seed gathered from the Tehama property.
