Golf Course Construction
Gozzer Ranch Golf and Lake Club
Client: Discovery Land Company
Location: Coeur D'Alene, Idaho
Geography: Hardiness Zone 5b
Type: Golf Course Construction
Project Requirements
DiscoveryLand Company's vision for the new Gozzer Ranch Golf and Lake Club was to create a picturesque resort on a bluff overlooking Lake Coeur D'Alene. The resort development is anchored by a Tom Fazio designed golf course and lakeside marina. Environmental Design was contracted to move giant trees for the golf course, lakeside resturant, and clubhouse.
Project Process
In conjunction with Discovery Land Company and Tom Fazio Design, Environmental Design tagged 70 trees to be transplanted to new locations on site. The species selected included Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa), Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta), Grand Fir (Abies grandis), and Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii). The trees ranged in size from 12 to 24 inch caliper.
Project Solution
Environmental Design started the transplant process by encapsulating the root system of the selected trees in the fall. The following spring, Environmental Design's crews went back to the site and transplanted the trees to their final locations.
